Raw Talent
1984, dir. Larry Revene
"There's nothing like it!"
Eddie Czeropski (Jerry Butler) is scraping by while trying to make it as an actor in New York City. His friend Donny (Joey Silvera) is an actor, too, though not the same kind as Eddie: he moonlights in adult films for the tough-as-nails director Carolyn King (Lisa De Leeuw). When Eddie winds up filling in for Donny on set one day, Carolyn quickly takes a shine to the newcomer and convinces him to make a score of movies for her. But when Eddie finally lands his big break with a recurring role on a daytime soap, will his sordid past come back to haunt him?
An award-winning meta masterpiece from writer/producer Joyce Snyder (Pledge Night) and cinematographer/director Larry Revene (Wanda Whips Wall Street), Raw Talent combines introspective drama, outrageous action, and avant-garde editing—including subliminal imagery—to create a hardcore film unlike anything else.
New 4K restoration by Vinegar Syndrome.
