Naked Came the Stranger
1975, dir. Radley Metzger
“From the best-seller that was written by 25 men and one beautiful woman!”
Gilly (Darby Lloyd Rains) and Billy (Levi Richards) are the happily married cohosts of a beloved morning radio show. But when Gilly inadvertently finds out that Billy has been secretly bedding the show’s producer, Phyllis (Mary Stuart), she sets off to even the score, leading to a series of outrageous escapades on a double decker bus driving through midtown Manhattan, in an abandoned ballroom straight out of an Old Hollywood film, at a lavish costume party, and more.
Adapted from the novel written pseudonymously by a group of Newsday journalists as an infamous literary hoax, Naked Came the Stranger is a hilarious satire of American sexual mores filled with acclaimed filmmaker Radley Metzger’s (as “Henry Paris”) trademark sparkling visuals and sophisticated humor.
New 4K restoration by Distribpix and The Rialto Report.
Also available in its alternate “cool” version!
