Liquid Assets
1982, dir. Walter Sear
"Put your money where your mouth is!"
Mr. Cashbox (Bobby Astyr) has a money problem—meaning, he's got too much of it and runs the risk of being hit with a huge tax bill. On the advice of his tax lawyer (Ron Jeremy), he decides to fund Piece & War, the sure-to-flop dream project of narcissistic theater director Stan Slavsky (Gregory Lions), in the hope of being able to use its failings to get a tax write-off. Cashbox soon realizes he may be in over his head when Broadway starlet Tootsie Lamarr (Veronica Hart) decides she wants a meaty role in the production and aspiring actress Suzy (Sanja Sorrello) catches the romantic eye of the smug Slavsky.
A broad minded (in more ways than one) riff on Mel Brooks's The Producers from the filmmaking team of Roberta Findlay and Walter Sear, £iquid A$$ets blends burlesque comedy schtick with humorous eroticism.
2K restoration by Vinegar Syndrome.
